The kids have survived another school year and it was time to celebrate at the Crown Valley Elementary School year end carnival. I find it odd that kids look forward to the year end while Rebecca and I would love to go back to school full time. We all know that the kids will be anxiously awaiting to return well before the summer break is over.

It was a sunny day (no surprise) in Laguna Niguel and plenty of colorful folks showed up and contributed to the fun. The photo on the right shows Rebecca, Yahir (Little Brother) and the grandkids (Benjamin & Destiny) waiting for their custom balloons. At the end of this post you’ll see a photo with the three kids and their balloon swords/crowns.

There was music – the boys put on a real show for a few adoring fans.

And what carnival doesn’t include a fun/jump house and games. The jump house was a big hit with Benjamin

Yahir had fun with games and eventually won two goldfish. His mom was “thrilled” when he brought them home later that evening.

I was able to get all three of them to take a moment for some poses. Ben got dressed up as a fireman while Yahir and Destiny hammed it up in a police-owned Hummer.

There was plenty of fun for adults as well. I spent some time taking photos of some classic cars …

and not so classic cars

I love the disparity between old and new motors in the photo below. I’ve been telling folks that once you go electric you’ll never go back. I love my Chevy Volt but I don’t see spending another $50K to enjoy the beauty and power of the Fisker.

On the way back to the car I got the kids to pose with their balloons. I’m sure the memories will last longer than the balloons – Rebecca and I were relieved that they made it home without popping.
